“The Human Body Ain’t a Rental – Take Care Before It Breaks Down!”

Let’s get real for a second. The human body is the most advanced machine ever made – and you got one straight off the divine factory floor. No payments, no lease, no extended warranty. You don’t get a spare. You don’t get to trade it in after five years. And if it breaks down? Let’s just say roadside assistance can’t fix high blood pressure or emotional trauma with jumper cables and a smile.

Now I’m not just preaching from a soapbox here – I’m speaking from experience. The past year and a half? Woo boy. Life decided to hit me with a mix of stress, betrayal, responsibility overload, and enough foolishness to make a man start reading nutrition labels and breathing exercises like they were gospel. As a result, my pressure went up – like, high enough to make my doctor give me the look. You know the one: the “if you don’t slow down, you’re going to stay down” stare. 😅

And that’s when I realized something: the body talks. It whispers first. A little fatigue here. A tight chest there. A weird headache you brush off. But if you don’t listen? It starts shouting. And sometimes, it stops altogether to make its point.

The Body is a System – Not a Suggestion

Think of your body like a finely tuned watch (you know I had to go there). Every gear, every movement, working in harmony. But let someone drop it, spill something in it, or start turning the knobs without knowing what they’re doing? It goes out of alignment.

The same thing happens with people. Sometimes they enter your life and press all the wrong buttons. They cause damage, some of it silent and invisible – until your system says “Enough!”

Whether it’s workplace stress, relationship strain, being undermined, betrayed, or wrongly accused… these things don’t just affect your feelings. They affect your blood pressure, your heart, your sleep, and your peace of mind.

People don’t always understand the weight of their actions. They come in like a tornado and walk away like it was just a breeze. But you? You’re left picking up the pieces of your health, your energy, your life.

So What Can You Do?

You do what I’ve started doing: you prioritize your health like it’s your only source of income. Because spoiler alert – it is. Without it, everything else falls apart.

  • Check your vitals. Regularly. Don’t be ashamed of seeing a doctor. You’d check on your car before a road trip. Do the same for your body.
  • Move your body. Even if it’s just dancing around the kitchen while making tea. Motion is medicine.
  • Cut toxic people and sugar. Both spike your pressure. Both drain your energy. Both can be addictive and deadly if consumed in excess.
  • Sleep like it’s a business meeting. Show up on time, don’t cancel it, and stay present.
  • Laugh more. Even if it’s at yourself. Even if it’s because your shirt doesn’t button the same way anymore.

And If You’ve Been the Storm in Someone Else’s Life?

Pause. Reflect. You never know what someone’s carrying. One careless action could be the reason someone’s pressure is up or their peace is gone. Let’s be more mindful. More kind. Less “me-first” and more “how can I help?”

Final Thought

Your body works hard for you. Every. Single. Day. It deserves better than the scraps of your attention. Treat it like it’s the only one you’ve got – because it is. As for me, I’m on a mission now to rebuild, recharge, and reclaim my health. Pressure up or not, I’m not going to let anyone or anything rob me of me again.

You shouldn’t either. 💪🏾
